How to refresh a children’s garden playset Belinka’s ambassador Ana from Wood & Blonde advises on how to refresh a children’s garden playset and make it as good as new. Follow the simple refreshment steps. For refreshing a children’s garden playset, you will need: 180- and 220-grit sandpaper, a grinding machine, a paintbrush, and Belinka Oil House&Garden no. 204 in a brown shade; The procedure for refreshing a children’s garden playset A children’s garden playset made of unprotected spruce wood has acquired a grey patina, a rough surface, and other signs of wear over the years of exposure to external influences. That’s why Ana of Wood & Blonde started by completely sanding it using 180-grit sandpaper. You can sand the surface manually or using a random orbit sander. Once the surface is evenly sanded, dust thoroughly to make it ready for coating. In order to protect and decorate the wooden playset, Ana chose Belinka Oil House&Garden, an oil used for the protection and decoration of outdoor wooden surfaces and garden furniture. The oil protects the wood against weathering, at the same time giving it a decorative colour and highlighting its natural texture. It penetrates deep into the wood and creates a thin film on the surface. It contains anti-mould agents, UV filters and UV absorbers that extend the resistance to weathering. An oiled surface repels water and dirt. Mix the product well before evenly applying it to the surface with a paintbrush. The wooden surfaces do not need to be wiped after oiling. Wait 24 hours for the oil to dry completely, then sand the wood again, this time with 220-grit sandpaper. Dust the wood completely and apply the second layer of oil. Wait another 24 hours for the second layer to dry completely, after which the garden playset will be refreshed, protected against external influences and ready for children to play with.
