Playing outdoors is essential for a child’s healthy development. Belinka’s ambassadors Maja and Malin, who create under the FORESTONE DESIGN brand, give advice on how to make a wonderful outdoor wooden playset that will spark your child’s imagination.

  • fir planks,
  • a pencil,
  • a tape measure,
  • a square ruler,
  • a grinding machine,
  • a power drill,
  • a saw,
  • screws,
  • a small glass to outline the edges of the boards,
  • a paintbrush, and
  • Belinka Oil House & Garden for the maintenance and protection of wood;

The process of making a wooden children’s playset

First cut the fir planks to the desired dimensions. Maja and Malin of FORESTONE DESIGN used the following dimensions:

  • the main vertical load-bearing columns: 4 pieces 150x8x3cm
  • the main load-bearing horizontal columns: 4 pieces 145x8x3cm
  • planks for the canopy: 12 pieces 59×5.5x2cm
  • side planks on vertical support columns: 8 pieces 42.5×5.5x2cm
  • wider planks for the seats: 10 pieces 52×11.5x2cm
  • narrower planks for the seats: 2 pieces 52×4.5x2cm
  • medium-width planks for the seats between the load-bearing columns: 2 pieces 52x8x2cm
  • planks for the backrest cut in an arc: 6 pieces 36×11.5×2 cm
  • the narrower planks for the backrest cut in an arc: 2 pieces 36×4.5x2cm
  • load-bearing planks for the backrest: 2 pieces 82x8x3cm

Then sand the planks and clean them of dirt. The planks are then planed to the exact thickness.
Sand the whole planks with 120-grit coarse sandpaper and then with 240-grit sandpaper, and if desired, sand the edges semicircularly (with a milling cutter or by sanding – either by hand or by machine).

Then assemble the children’s playset with screws. After you’ve assembled it, use a paintbrush to apply the Belinka Oil House&Garden oil (in the desired shade, which will be more striking than on the colour chart) for the protection and care of outdoor wooden surfaces and garden furniture (wooden facades, pergolas, log cabins).

Oil protects wood from weathering, while also giving it a decorative color and enhances its natural structure. It penetrates deep into the wood and creates a thin film on its surface. It contains agents that protect the coating film against mould, UV filters and UV absorbers that extend its resistance to weathering.

After 24 hours, sand the wood (with 180-220-grit sandpaper or sanding sponge), then repeat the entire painting process. The product is ready for use 24 hours after the second application.

All you have to do is choose a suitable place in the garden to create a magical outdoor play area for your children.
