Is hydrogen peroxide also present in nature?
The first written records of H2O2 originated in 1818 when the French chemist Louis-Jacques Thenard detected traces of it in rain and snow and termed it eau oxygene. Subsequent research in this field revealed that H2O2 enters rain and snow from the ozone layer in the upper layer of our atmosphere. Hydrogen peroxide is also formed when UV-rays hit molecules of oxygen. When this happens in the atmosphere in the presence of humidity, hydrogen peroxide is formed as well.

Is hydrogen peroxide found in fruit and vegetables?
Scientists have proven the presence of hydrogen peroxide in fruit and vegetables. Some of it can be explained with their exposure to rain, and some appears in the process of photosynthesis. Therefore when consuming fresh fruit and raw vegetables, a certain amount of hydrogen peroxide enters our bodies as well.

Is it also found in maternal milk?
When researching substances found in maternal milk, a considerable amount of hydrogen peroxide was found. This is especially large in milk right after childbirth.

Is hydrogen peroxide a disinfectant?
More and more physicians recommend the use of hydrogen peroxide as a disinfectant for wounds. Of course a 3% diluted solution should be used. The main advantage it has over disinfectant alcohol is mainly that hydrogen peroxide does not sting and therefore has a soothing effect on the wound.
